Our Story

Like many epic stories, ours started with a pretty average guy, down on his luck, just looking to get by and take care of his family. What ended up happening was way more than we ever imagined.

Our Founder, Sean, tells it best…

Before I moved to Baltimore, I was living in New York running a non-profit with a mission to put an end to human trafficking in the United States (a cause that is now interwoven into the very fabric of our business. Read more here.)

While my passion was high, my bank account was low. Actually, my bank account was non-existent—I didn’t even have enough money to clear the next month’s rent.

As fate would have it, I came to Baltimore for a conference, and really connected with one of the conference leaders. For whatever reason, I’ll still never know, he offered to cover my rent, and convinced me to move to Baltimore with the promise of a salaried position at a real estate development group.

While I loved the non-profit, I took one look at my children and realized their futures were limited by the lack of financial freedom I was creating for myself and my family. I decided to move to Baltimore and began work the next day.

The plan was for the founder of the real estate group to teach me everything he knew about investing over the course of three months, then after that, I’d move to a full commission position. The problem was, the only day I saw the founder was the day after my 3 months were up and my salary was to disappear.

Here comes the proverbial fork in the road. I had two choices. Given that nothing was taught to me, I could give up and return to New York, or I could learn everything I possibly could about real estate and set out on my own.I started reading, watching, and consuming anything and everything real estate related. I started investing on my own, and developed a core group of highly-vetted contractors to fix up properties.

Before I knew it, others started hearing of our success, and we had a full-fledged book of business. Fast forward to now, and I’m proud to say Thrive is the fastest-growing turnkey real estate investment group in Baltimore.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide freedom to every single person we work with. This includes our clients, our team members, and the communities we serve. We believe that when people have true freedom with their wealth and their time, they are in the best position to positively impact their family, their community, and the world at large.

It’s bigger than business

At Thrive development, social good is baked into our business model.

For every property we sell, we donate 10% of our profits to Shared Hope International, the leading non-profit in the fight to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking.

Human trafficking is an issue that, unfortunately, goes largely unrealized in the United States. It is estimated that 300,000 children are forced into human trafficking in the United States every single year, with the average age of the child being 13-years-old.  Sadly, it is also estimated that there are under 500 beds nationally to provide care for these children.

We are extremely adamant that as our company grows, our success will directly contribute to those young children who don’t enjoy the basic freedoms many of us take for granted. Our goal is to build 100 safe houses to provide a sanctuary for these children.

Rescuing these children and granting them the freedom and opportunities so many of us can take for granted is one of our biggest passions, and it’s one of the driving reasons we started our company.
